Contraception and Family Planning

At the core of PPCO services is family planning.  It is estimated that Planned Parenthood family planning and contraceptive services annually help avert more than 217,000 abortions in the U.S. every year!

Did you know?  PPCO offers HOPE, which stands for hormonal contraception without a physical exam.  Although gynecological exams are a good preventative health method, they are unrelated to a person's ability to use hormonal contraceptive methods such as birth control pills and shots.  Therefore, women can receive hormonal contraception at PPCO, if they choose, after completing a health history and having a health interview with a clinician, who then decides whether or not the woman is a safe candidate for the method.
