PPCO Seeking Clinician

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understands and practices within PPFA Standards and Guidelines, PPCO Medical Standards & Protocols, and current literature in reproductive health care.
  • Secures a complete health history, including obstetric, gynecologic, contraceptive, medical, surgical, sexual, family health, and psychosocial; and records findings accurately and succinctly.
  • Performs three to four general screening physical examinations per hour, with special emphasis on the reproductive system, including breast, pelvic, cancer screening tests, diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections, and other types of more specialized procedures as may be indicated by medical policy.
  • Responsible for onsite supervision of assigned Clinic Assistant(s) in coordination with the Clinic Coordinator and Director of Patient Services.
  • Responsible for overall clinic flow and performance on clinic days.
  • Performs, orders, and interprets diagnostic studies as indicated and permitted by affiliate medical protocols.
  • Recognizes common gynecological and non-gynecological medical problems and other deviations from normal and provides management or referrals as appropriate.
  • Provides unbiased, nonjudgmental general health education/counseling on all options to include family planning, nutrition, sexual counseling, contraceptive methods, pregnancy options, infertility, use of medications, sexually transmitted infections, and principles of health promotion and maintenance.
  • Promotes the services of PPCO through collaboration, research, community, education and marketing strategies.
  • Meets current productivity standards of the organization.
  • Works to ensure understanding and acceptance by colleagues, other professionals, consumers and the community at large, of the role of advanced practice nurses and physician assistants at PPCO.
  • Supports training of clinic staff as needed.
  • Appropriately codes all patient services following approved coding and billing practices.
  • Performs quality assurance measures as indicated to ensure compliance with organizational, state and federal standards.
  • Participates as a member of the PPCO medical team and as an active member of the clinic team.
  • Interprets scientific studies based on knowledge of basic research principles.
  • Recognizes ethical, legal, and professional issues inherent in providing care to women throughout the life cycle.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities and performs other duties as appropriate and approved by the affiliate medical committee and consistent with the limitations of state licensure.
  • Provides excellent customer service at all times.

  • Meeting, greeting and visiting appropriately with the general public.
  • Handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Traveling as needed and required to any of the PPCO sites.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • License or certification for advanced nurse practice, physician assistant, midwife or clinical nurse specialist within the state of Oklahoma
  • Advanced practice training required; subsequent experience in reproductive health care preferred.
  • National certification recommended.
  • Basic business/personnel management skills recommended.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills required.
  • Ability to carry out all the functions and responsibilities of the job with specified orientation and training.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex written materials accurately.
  • Ability to sit in one position for long periods, at a desk, in meetings, etc.
  • Ability to stand up and sit down frequently throughout the day.
  • Ability to life and transport boxes up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to use close vision, hearing/listening and clear speech, walking, kneeling and bending.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Willingness to travel to all PPCO sites as needed.

§         Must have reliable transportation.

§         Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and proof of insurance required.
